Semmering railway


      Simmering railway is the oldest Mountain Railway in Europe built in the mid-19th century and employ about 20,000 workers. The train through the tunnel 14, 16 bridges, 100 stone bridge and iron, small Bridge 11, everything is set in the spectacular mountain views. Enjoy a train ride with amazing views is a thing that many people dream about. The Simmering railway at Gloggnitz and leads over the Simmering Musculature mountain railway was the first in Europe built with a standard gauge track. In the mid-19th century Karl Titter von Ghega achieved pioneering feat was the construction of a railway over the Simmering pass, making him the first Alpine railway of its kind in the world. It opened in 1854 and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999.

      Train Semmering railway is located between Gloggnitz and Murzzuschlag Station. With a distance of 42 Kilometers and is part of the railway line linking the cities of Vienna and Graz and which continued to Trieste on the Adriatic Sea. A unique travel experience that offers the Semmering, contributed significantly to the original opening of the Semmering region for tourism. Many hotels and mansions offer lodging. This unique cultural landscape can be retained with minor changes. The train journey on the Semmering railway, which uses a full 150 years after the building, still impressive special experience of tourists by the diverse landscape, the typical style of the mansions and sequence characteristics of bridge and tunnel construction.
