Goreme, a town did what
literally carved into the volcanic rock, is the gateway to the Goreme National
Park, a vast World Heritage Site of UNESCO with impressive rock-hewn churches
in the 10th and 11Century. The park is known for its tufa
formations called fairy chimneys, and is very popular with backpackers. So try the Turkish cuisine and local
wine - Goreme is perfectly suited for this.
